Deportivo La Coruna had to come from a goal behind to beat a stubborn Eibar outfit 2-1 at Estadio Municipal de Riazor in the Primera Division on Friday night.
Despite being considered favourites at kick off, Deportivo looked sluggish early on against a surprisingly well-settled Eibar, considering how early it is in the season.
The possession was shared evenly between the sides throughout the evening and they traded shots in the first half but neither side was able to break the deadlock in the opening period.
Eibar begun the second half brightly and it came as no surprise when they took the lead through Ivan Ramis in the 55th minute after he was played in by a pinpoint ball from Bebe.
However, the home side responded well and their determination to get something from the match paid off in the 69th minute when Pedro Mosquera Parada pulled them level.
The visitors were left crestfallen in the 87th minute when David Junca conceded a penalty for holding an attacker back in the box and Lucas Perez converted well to give Deportivo a late victory.
Earlier in the evening, Juanpi (56′) and Fran Merida (85′) traded goals as Malaga played out to a 1-1 draw with Osasuna at Estadio La Rosaleda, despite the home side arguably having the better chances on the night.
