Borussia Dortmund full-back Erik Durm is set for another lengthy spell on the sidelines after undergoing knee surgery.

The talented 24-year-old played just 20 times for Dortmund last season after missing the first half of the campaign following an operation to his troubled left knee.

But indications are that he wasn't fully fit, with his other knee then limiting his involvement with the club.

He has now undergone an operation to his right knee to remove some inflamed tissue.

BVB announced on their official Twitter account that Durm had undergone surgery, with the player himself posting on his Instagram account: "All went well, and only looking ahead from now on!"

There is no indication when the player, who was an unused substitute at the 2014 World Cup, might return to action.
