Highly-rated midfielder Naby Keita says he had several possible offers to move to England, but felt that RB Leipzig was the best option for him.
The Guinea international told Die Welt publication he had been in touch with a handful of Premier League clubs and that he spoke personally to Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.
"Arsenal, Southampton, Manchester City and Liverpool, although I have since not spoken with the coach," he said when asked which clubs had made contact with him.
"I didn’t have contact with Jurgen Klopp, but I did have contact with Arsene Wenger who speaks French," added the 21-year-old, who joined Leipzig for £13million.
Keita admits he harbours ambitions of playing for one of Europe's big guns, but feels that his current club is the perfect place for him to develop.
"I am with RB because it is an exciting club with great potential," he explained. "It is too early to move to a Champions League club. If RB evolved as quickly and successfully as in the past, then I can make my next move here and grow.
"I hope that I can reach the level of these clubs in two or three years. They include Barcelona, but could also be Manchester City or Real Madrid."
The midfielder signed from Red Bull Salzburg in Austria, with whom he won the league for the last two seasons. Last season he netted 12 goals and provided 12 assists in 29 league and cup encounters.
