Real boss Zidane says Rodriguez is staying put

Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that James Rodriguez will not be leaving Real Madrid this transfer window.

The Colombian international has been linked with several Premier League and European clubs after failing to force his way into Zidane’s starting eleven on a consistent basis.

Following Real’s 5-3 victory over Reims in the Santiago Bernabeu trophy match on Tuesday – in which Rodriguez started – Zidane revealed that he is getting fed up of answering questions over the midfielder’s future.

“James is here. I am happy with how he played and he will be staying here. I will always respond in the same way to that — I’m tired of having to give a response. My stance is not going to change,” Zidane told reporters.

Los Blancos start their La Liga campaign against Real Sociedad on Sunday and Zidane says it’s unlikely he will look to improve his squad before the end of the transfer window.

“We are going to wait for the 31st. I don’t think we will be bringing players in,” the Frenchman added.

“The squad is complete, but anything can happen. I am happy with the squad, with the players we have and that is that.”
