Javi Fuego has become Espanyol’s seventh off-season signing after he joined from La Liga rivals Valencia on a three-year contract.
The 32-year-old midfielder joins Roberto Jimenez, Jose Antonio Reyes, Jose Manuel Jurado Marin, Leo Baptistao, Pablo Piatti and Martin Demichelis as the club’s new arrivals alongside new manager Quique Sanchez Flores.
A statement on the club’s official website read: “The Spaniard footballer formed in Sporting Gijon has a long career in the First Division. His first club in the top league was the Levante. After he signed for Recreativo and Rayo Vallecano.
“His remarkable performance with the team from Vallecas led him to sign for Valencia in the summer of 2013, the club he has played more than 100 games in recent seasons.”
Paco Montanes has, meanwhile, left to play for Levante on loan while Adrian Dalmau has joined Mallorca.
