Fiorentina's attempts to sign Vedran Corluka appear to have been rebuffed with Lokomotiv Moscow insisting the player is not for sale.
The 30-year-old Croatian international joined the Russian Premier League side from Tottenham Hotspur after a season on loan with Bayer Leverkusen in 2012.
He has enjoyed four productive seasons with the two-time top-flight champions, making over 100 appearances but is seemingly keen on a new challenge.
A 3 million euro move to Florence has been widely reported in the press, but the club's director of sport Anatoly Meshcheryakov told Match TV: "The club will not sell Corluka.
"He has two years left on his contract, not one and not six months. We are not considering the possibility of selling him, as that is not in our intention and he will not be leaving Moscow."
If Fiorentina are unsuccessful in their Corluka chase, they may look to snap up either Marseille centre back Karim Rekik or Feyenoord's Sven van Beek, with both player's future uncertain at the current clubs.
