Serie A side Torino advanced to the last 16 of the Coppa Italia on Tuesday after cruising to victory against Serie B team Cesena at the Olimpico di Torino.
The hosts wasted little time in the match, taking the lead in the third minute through Alessandro Gazzi.
Defender Emiliano Moretti doubled the lead just 11 minutes later, and former Barcelona striker Maxi Lopez took the scores to 3-0 in the 51st minute.
Cesena managed pulled a goal back through midfielder Emmanuel Cascione in the 67th minute, but Marco Benassi restored the Torino’s three goal lead in the 84th minute.
The 4-1 victory means the Granata will face Turin rivals and league champions Juventus in their next game.
Meanwhile, Serie B side Spezia will meet Serie A giants Roma in the last 16 of the tournament after a comfortable victory against fellow lower league side Salernitana at Alberto Picco stadium.
The Aquilotti had striker Emanuele Calaio sent off in the 63rd minute, but still managed to hold on for a 2-0 victory.
It was Calaio who gave his side the lead some 50 minutes before receiving his red card, before centre-back Sergio Postiga doubled the lead in the 33rd minute.
Salernitana could lower the deficit despite close to 30 minutes with a numerical advantage, and were also reduced to 10 men in the 90th minute when half-time substitute Umberto Eusepi was sent off.
