West Ham playmaker Dimitri Payet has waded into the debate over the value of Paul Pogba's purported transfer fee, saying his compatriot would improve any team.
Pogba is currently in the midst of a transfer saga that could see him move to Manchester United for what could be a world record fee, leaving some to question whether the move represents value for money for the Red Devils.
Payet would not be drawn into the discussion about value as he believes the way the market has gone makes that virtually impossible, but he was adamant that whichever club Pogba ends up playing for would be glad to have him.
"All I know is that Pogba is an exceptional player," the France international told RTL. "Exceptional players attract this kind of club so everything is possible.
"The problem today is that good players are expensive. Unfortunately that's the way the market is. We, the players, can do nothing about it.
"I can't tell you if Pogba is worth that price today but all I know is that he's an exceptional player.
"So regardless of the club that would buy Pogba and regardless of the price, it will certainly be an exceptional recruit for this team. And I'm sure that Paul can help this club to grow and to win trophies."
