The French surgeon who has been brought in to operate on Demba Ba is confident the Senegalese striker will recover and play again.
The 31-year-old former Chelsea forward broke his leg playing for Shanghai Shenhua, with his coach saying the injury could end his career.
However, Ba himself is confident he will return to the pitch and said he would bring in his personal orthopaedic surgeon, Olivier Bringer, to perform the surgery.
Bringer was quoted as saying in a Shanghai Daily newspaper: “I’m sure he will be able to recover and play football again.
“In a few months, he will have the possibility of making a comeback. He is a tough guy and I’m sure he will be able to get over this.
“We are used to such surgeries. My team’s done it many times in France.”
