Pre-season Manchester derby in doubt

Flooding in Beijing has cast doubt on the International Champions Cup clash between neighbours Manchester City and Manchester United.

The pre-season Manchester derby, which will see United boss Jose Mourinho and City manager Pep Guardiola renew hostilities, is scheduled for Monday at the Bird's Nest Stadium.

However, adverse weather in the Chinese capital this week has led to concerns that the mouth-watering fixture will not go ahead as planned.

"It's a concern," admitted International Champions Cup China spokesman Ben Xiaozheng. "The weather has been really bad. But we're hopeful the game will go ahead."

Red Devils spokesman Phil Townsend added: "We are aware of the bad weather in Beijing, but also that the organisers are working very hard on getting the game to go ahead."

United are unbeaten in their last three meetings with the Citizens, who won the previous four derby encounters.
