Liverpool announce Klavan transfer

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has bolstered his defensive options after securing the services of FC Augsburg centre-back Ragnar Klavan on a long-term deal.

Klopp has moved quickly to bring in the 30-year-old defender following the departure of Martin Skrtel to Turkish giants Fenerbahce last Thursday.

Klavan would have come onto Klopp's radar in February, when Liverpool faced Augsburg in the Europa League.

"I'm really honoured to be part of this amazing club, this amazing team," Klavan told

"It's hard to put it into words, because it's been a dream of mine for 22 years to come to the Premier League and be a part of this amazing club, Liverpool.

"The Premier League is the most attractive league in the world and you always have amazing players here. This is the home of football."

Ragnar has made 112 appearances for Estonia's senior side, and has also represented AZ Alkmaar and Heracles Almelo.
