NEC Nijmegen have pulled off a major coup by signing highly-rated Adelaide United attacking midfielder Stefan Mauk.
The 20-year-old midfielder joins the Eredivisie side on a three-year contract with the option of a fourth, and comes with a big reputation after winning the Rising Star Award at his former club for excellent performances during the 2015/16 season.
"My aim was always to try and get over to Europe, ever since I was a little kid," he said after the move was confirmed.
"To be able to make the move now on the back of winning the A-League Championship in Adelaide really is a dream come true. Hopefully, when I return to Australia, I'll be able to put the Adelaide United shirt on again."
NEC technical director Danny Hoekman admitted they were delighted to have secured the Australian youth international's signature, as they look to better last season's tenth-place finish in the standings.
"We are delighted that we have managed to attract Stefan as our fifth reinforcement of this transfer window," he told the club's website.
"He wants to develop at our club, he's only 20-years-old, but also has the required experience we were looking at our midfield."
Mauk recently received a senior national team call-up for a friendly against England, but is yet to make his debut for the Socceroos.
