Demba Ba has thanked everyone for the support he has received since suffering an horrific injury while playing in the Chinese Super League.
The Senegal striker broke his leg in the second half playing for Shanghai Shenhua against Shanghai SIPG in a derby on Sunday, with his Shenhua coach saying the injury could end his career.
While acknowledging that it was a 'difficult day', the 31-year-old former Chelsea forward was happy that his team emerged victorious from their derby encounter.
Ba told reporters: "It was a very difficult day (on Sunday) for me and the team, but I'm glad we won. I would like to thank all the supporters who are watching over me in the hospital."
Ba also received a visit from Sun Xiang, the player who was involved in the challenge that saw him admitted to hospital but urged fans and media not to blame him.
The former Besiktas player said: "Don't blame him, I'm fine, C'est la vie".
