SV Werder Bremen could be without playmaker Florian Grillitsch for the rest of pre-season after he picked up a thigh injury on Saturday.
The Austrian youngster injured his right thigh in a friendly against Lubeck and now looks set to be left behind for treatment as the rest of the squad venture off to their training camp in Zillertal.
Bremen manager Viktor Skripnik admits it’s a big blow to lose Grillitsch after he became a key part of the team in his breakthrough season last year.
“It is obviously particularly disappointing for Flo to drop out at this point of pre-season,” Skripnik told the club’s official website.
“This is the most important time for any footballer in terms of getting a good start to the season, but he will do all he can to make a quick recovery.”
The 20-year-old midfielder scored three goals and contributed six assists in 35 games across all competitions for the Bundesliga club last term.
