FC Bayern München midfielder Xabi Alonso has welcomed speculation linking Bayer 04 Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez with the Bundesliga champions.
Alonso feels the experience and quality of the Mexico international would improve Bayern’s current team, but conceded that he may be reluctant to move to the Allianz Arena after finally securing regular game-time at Leverkusen.
Hernandez made it known to his previous managers that he was tired of being considered as an impact player during spells at Manchester United and Real Madrid, and joined Leverkusen in order to be guaranteed a first-team spot.
The 28-year-old went on to record his best-ever scoring season with 26 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions last term.
“Carlo Ancelotti knows him well from the year they spent together at Real Madrid, but these are questions for the directors,” Alonso told Univision.
“Could he fit in at Bayern? With his quality, of without a doubt! But I see him at Leverkusen and he seems happy.”
