Belgian Pro champions Club Brugge have confirmed that a deal for defender Ricardo van Rhijn has been agreed with Eredevisie club Ajax Amsterdam.
Brugge were in the market for a right-back after Thomas Meunier was snapped up by Paris Saint-Germain for €7million and the arrival of the Dutch international for €1.6 million has proven to be an astute piece of business by manager Michel Preud'homme.
Van Rhijn rejected moves to Leicester City and Everton in January in favor of proving his worth to then coach Frank De Boer – but the emergence of teenager Kenny Tete has seen his stock dramatically decline and become surplus to requirements at the Amsterdam Arena.
The 25-year-old, who agreed a three-year contract at the club, is set to undergo a medical in the coming days and will join fellow Dutchman and former teammate Stefano Denswil at the Blauw-Zwart.
Since making his debut in 2011, van Rhijn has made 189 appearances, scoring 10 goals and registering 13 assists, while picking up three Eredivisie titles.
