The agent of West Ham United midfielder Dimitri Payet has moved quickly to refute a story claiming that his client is 100 per cent committed to the London club.
In an article published by The Sun, Payet was quoted as saying "I'm 100 per cent staying at West Ham, I love the club. I can tell the Hammers fans that."
This after the France international was linked with the likes of Real Madrid and Inter Milan following his country's loss to Portugal in the Euro 2016 final.
And it has now emerged that Payet did not speak to anyone at the publication in question, raising further doubts over his commitment to the Hammers.
Payet's agent, Jacques Olivier Auguste, told Daily Mercato: "I am surprised by this information because Dimitri has not done an interview with any media outlet.
"The only thing that is certain is that he is enjoying his holidays that he deserves and he is licking the wounds caused by the Euro 2016 final defeat.
"So he is only thinking about recharging at the moment.
"These declarations are pure inventions in the imagination of a journalist. This deserved a response."
