1. FC Köln sporting director Jorg Schmadtke has made it clear that Barcelona have not submitted any offers in an attempt to acquire the services of defender Jonas Hector.
According to Hector’s agent, Barcelona have expressed their interest in signing the 26-year-old. It is understood that the Catalans are not the only club that have Hector on their radar as Liverpool and Tottenham are allegedly keen to bring him to the Premier League.
It has also been reported that Köln want around €18 million for the left-back, but Schmadtke has refuted these claims and being in contact with Barcelona.
“There has not been any direct contact with Barcelona over Hector,” Schmadtke told Kicker. “I cannot say €18 million is not enough for him, because I never received such an offer.
“I have not spoken with anyone at Barcelona. I know that Barcelona were interested in Hector, but there is nothing more to it.
“His agent told me there was some interest. I told him to speak with Barca and return when things got more concrete. He never returned to me.”
Hector recently represented Germany in their Euro 2016 campaign and featured in every match until the world champions were knocked out by hosts France in the semi-finals.
