Korea Republic climb in Fifa Rankings

The Korea Republic have climbed two places to 48th position on 592 points in the latest Fifa Rankings that were released on Thursday.

Though there have not been many Asian football national team games since the World Cup qualifiers in March, Korea Republic had a great result beating the Czech Republic 2-1 in a friendly international on June 5 at the Eden Aréna in Praha.

In 57th place is Japan, who fell four places, and sit on 564 points above Australia in 59th place with 555 points.

Some of the other notable Southeast Asia sides in the Fifa rankings are: China (81st), Korea DPR (117th), Thailand (121st), Philippines (135th), Vietnam (139th), Hong Kong (148th), Singapore (158th), Malaysia (167th) and Indonesia in 191st place.

Just in case

The top five of the Fifa Rankings remains unchanged with Argentina on top followed by Belgium, Colombia, Germany and Chile.

Newly-crowned European champions Portugal are next having climbed two places to sixth and are followed by European finalists France, who climbed ten places to sixth.

Spain, Brazil and Italy complete the top 10 in the rankings.
