Real Madrid through to Audi Cup final
After a to-and-fro opening half-an-hour, James Rodriguez opened the scoring with a well-taken header, which saw Madrid go into the break 1-0 up.
Madrid doubled their lead in the second-half, Gareth Bale driving home a long-range effort after intercepting a lazy pass at the back from Spurs.
Spurs were unable to really threaten the Madrid goal throughout the game and Los Blancos held on to book their place in the Audi Cup final.
Spurs looked like they were off to a flyer as they attacked early on, Erik Lamela blasting a close range effort over the bar after a squared ball from Kyle Walker.
Madrid then replied in kind with two quick-fire chances of their own, Jese first rattling a fierce effort off the cross bar, before he had a curled effort well-saved by Michel Vorm.
Christian Eriksen then forced a good save from Kiko Casilla with a long-range effort, which bounced right in front of the new Madrid stopper.
James finally opened the scoring for Real Madrid on 35 minutes, nodding home a chipped cross from Isco from the edge of the six-yard area.
Spurs started the second-half well, but perhaps should have done better with their chances after Eriksen fired over and Nacer Chadli had a meek effort saved shortly after the restart.
Gareth Bale then doubled Madrid's lead with 78 minutes on the clock, letting fly from distance after intercepting a square ball, his low effort bouncing just in front of Vorm, over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
Madrid were able to hold off an ineffective Spurs side to secure the win and seal a place in the final of the two-day Audi Cup on Wednesday.
