Thiago Alcantara wants Bayern München team-mate Xabi Alonso to sign a contract extension at the Allianz Arena as he shows the team "how to play football".
Alonso, who has been with the Bavarian giants since August 2014, will be out of contract at the end of the current season, leading to suggestions of an impending departure.
Thiago, though, believes his fellow Spaniard still has a lot to offer the defending Bundesliga champions.
The 24-year-old midfielder was quoted as saying by TZ: "Xabi is an old man in a young man's body. It would be great if he stayed at Bayern. He shows us how to play football."
Alonso himself has not dampened speculation regarding his future, saying he has plenty of time to make a decision.
"There is no news regarding my future as of yet," the 34-year-old said. "But there is no rush to make a decision. There is still plenty of time."
