China earned a comfortable 2-0 win over North Korea in the EAFF Asian Cup at the Wuhan Sports Centre Stadium on Wednesday night.
North Korea nearly drew first blood as Ri Chol Myong stuck a belter from 35 yards out that forced a good save from Chinese stopper Cheng Zen.
China also had an early chance through forward Xu Yang, as he rose above his defender and made good contact with the ball but it was easily dealt with by goalkeeper Ri Myong Guk
The first goal came in the 36th minute courtesy of Dabao Yu, who controlled Ke Sun's cross beautifully with his chest and drove it home from close range.
China would continue their dominance in the second half, eventually earning a penalty when Yongpo Wang was brought down in the box. The midfielder then stepped up and slotted the penalty.
Both teams had chances late in the game, but failed to capitalise on their opportunities as China held on for the win.
