Enner Valencia's agent warned West Ham that while the striker may have a good relationship with the club, he is eager to play for Lazio.
Despite the Hammers showing lots of potential under new coach Slaven Bilic last term, and their likely push for European football next season, the Ecuador international is in seeking a new challenge at a higher level.
Valencia's representative, Gonzalo Vargas, stated that the Biancocelesti have already been in contact with him, while Serie A rivals Roma have also shown an initial interest in the 26-year-old.
"We're going to England in the next few days with Enner to talk to West Ham," Vargas told Lalaziosiamonoi.
"He wants to leave, although he is not making an obsession out of it because, unlike some reports, he does have a good relationship both with the coach and with his team-mates.
"He wants to play at the top – in Italy, Spain or England – and the decision over his future will be determined 100 per cent by sporting elements and not economic ones.
"Lazio have shown a real interest and that's an option that Enner is particularly keen on. Roma also like him, but only Lazio have made a move through their management."
In his two seasons at the London club, Valencia has made 51 appearances and scored eight goals.
