Di Maria: United is in the past

New Paris Saint-Germain signing Angel Di Maria revealed he was delighted to be in the French capital and was keen to put his Manchester United experience behind him.

The Argentine completed the £44.3million move on Thursday, just 12 months after signing for United for a British record £59.7million fee from Real Madrid.

The 27-year-old started brightly, but a series of injuries and off-field incidents, including the burglary of his home, led to a reduced impact from the winger as the season wore on.

"Things did not turn out well for me at Manchester United for many reasons, but that is the past," he said.

"I have been in Paris for two days and I am delighted because I know my wife and my daughter will be happy here."

Di Maria was quick to reveal he had not forced a move away from Manchester, saying the club was keen to sell him as much as he wanted to leave.

"This is not only my decision," he added. "They also wanted to sell me. It is a shared decision between the three parties, if we include PSG.

"PSG have been following me for several years. I am very proud to now be able to play for this great club, alongside such great players," he concluded.
