Newly-sign Roma striker Edin Dzeko says he chose to leave Manchester City this off-season order to secure regular first-team football.
Dzeko, who joins the Rome outfit on a season-long loan deal, started just 11 League games for the Citizens in an injury-hit campaign last season as Manuel Pellegrini's side finished runners-up to Chelsea.
Having now enjoyed a solid pre-season, the Bosnia and Herzegovina international is looking to kick on following his move to the Serie A and believes he can once again find his best form in the Serie A.
"I played less in my last year at City because they’re a top club with lots of players. I also had an injury that held me back," he said in a press conference after his unveiling.
"What happened last season is in the past now. Roma is my present and I can’t wait to get started.
"I had four fantastic years at Manchester City. They’ve improved a lot in recent years and I hope to repeat similar success at Roma."
