After a terrific Bundesliga debut, Pep Guardiola has warned new signing Douglas Costa to stay grounded and not get complacent.
The Brazil international has come in for a lot of praise in his short stint at the club thus far, making a big impression after joining from Shakhtar Donetsk in July.
After setting up two goals and scoring one of his own in the 5-0 win over Hamburg in the league opener of Friday, Guardiola has warned Costa not to let the praise get to his head.
"I’m pleased with the debuts of Douglas Costa and Arturo Vidal. They have quality and experience and will bring a lot to Bayern Munich," the Spaniard told reporters. "Bayern has bought a good young winger in Costa.
"He can play on the right and the left, and has the vision necessary to succeed in the centre too.
"In the next few days, he will receive a lot of praise for his performance, but it is our job to help him remain grounded."
