Subotic bids farewell to fans

Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic has confirmed that he will leaving the club this summer in order to find more first team football next season.

The Serbia international defender fell down the pecking order in the BVB defence after Thomas Tuchel replaced Jurgen Klopp as manager of the club.

Now, the 27-year old has issued a statement on his official Facebook account to Die Borussen supporters.

"Dear friends, last year I realised that my love of football in an active role on the pitch is too big to just be able to see it from the outside," he wrote.

"I am now at the best age for a footballer and naturally want to use this time to bring me and my team forward every day and to have the feeling of being needed on the pitch.

"I don't want to earn my money sitting on the bench, but to be an active part of a story as I was until last year. I hope you can understand.

"BVB are the club of my heart and always will be."

Subotic appeared 258 times for Dortmund scoring 18 goals since joining the club from Mainz eight seasons ago.
