Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is edging ever closer to joining Manchester United, according to Sky Sports.
Mkhitaryan has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford after enjoying a highly successful season during which he scored 23 goals and notched up 32 assists in all competitions, and it is understood that talks progressed to an advanced stage on Sunday.
The 27-year-old still has a year left on his contract and while Dortmund are eager for him to see out the final year of his deal, the Armenia international seems intent on signing for the Red Devils.
Mkhitaryan joined Dortmund from Shakhtar Donetsk for £23.5 million in 2013 and had such a huge impact last season that he was named the Bundesliga Players’ Player of the season.
While it remains unclear whether a deal will be reached, Mkhitaryan is not the only high-profile player United have on their radar as they are also looking to acquire the services of Swedish and former Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
