Johnson set for spell on the sidelines

Borussia Monchengladbach defender Fabian Johnson is set to be out of action for several weeks after suffering a tear to his right calf muscle.%u200B

Johnson picked up the injury in training on Sunday, having played the full 90 minutes in the Foals' season-opener against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, a fixture which they lost 4-0.

It is unclear at this stage just how long the United States international will be sidelined for, but his participation in Gladbach's opening Champions League fixture in mid-September appears to be in doubt.

The 27-year-old, who recently represented the United States in their failed bid to win the CONCACAF Gold Cup, joined Monchengladbach on a free transfer from Hoffenheim at the end of the 2013/14 season and has gone on to represent the club 25 times.
