Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger believes manager Louis Van Gaal 'can usher in a new era' at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils take on Club Brugge in their U Champions League qualifier first-leg at Old Trafford on Tuesday hoping to get back into the Champions League after missing out last season.
And following a fourth-place finish under the Dutchman last season, Schweinsteiger is confident the club can reclaim their place as one of European football's elite clubs, admitting that Van Gaal played a large role in bringing him to the Premier League.
"I am positive that – under coach Louis van Gaal – it is possible with Manchester United to usher in a new era. Similar to Bayern then," Schweinsteiger told German publication Bild. "This is what makes them the charm for me.
"I can promise to give everything and try with my experience to help to internationally reach the level of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern."
