Tottenham have completed the signing of Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama for a reported £11million.
The 24-year-old has opted to hook up again with former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino at White Hart Lane, signing a five-year-deal.
Wanyama has been a hit at Southampton since moving from Celtic in 2013, with the combative Kenyan making nearly 100 appearances for the south coast club.
Tottenham were widely reported to have made an attempt to sign Wanyama last summer, only to be rebuffed by Southampton. However, with just one year remaining on his contract, they have now decided to cash-in on the player rather than risk losing him for nothing in a year’s time.
With Wanyama secured, Spurs are expected to press ahead with plans to sign striker Vincent Janssen, despite rival interest from Bundesliga club Wolfsburg.
