The agent of Empoli fullback Mario Rui has attempted to quell concerns that the player has met with other clubs since agreeing terms with the Giallorossi.
In an interview with Corriere Della Sport, Rui, himself, confirmed that the loan deal – with an option to buy – was imminent.
"It's a beautiful opportunity, but let's wait until it becomes official," Rui said. "I knew Spalletti back at Empoli, he often came to observe our trainings when [Maurizio] Sarri was here. It's a dream, but I'm waiting to hear from my agent."
However, recently, reports have emerged that the 25-year-old's representative Mario Giuffredi has met with other clubs who are offering higher wages and are willing to pay the transfer fee upfront.
The agent has denied these claims, saying that the deal with Roma will go ahead.
"Empoli reached an agreement with Roma and we are in full agreement with the Giallorossi," Giuffredi told TMW.
"There is nothing more to add, the rest is of no interest to us.
"We chose Roma and have an agreement with the Giallorossi. That is the only thing that counts."
The former Portugal U21 international is expected to take the place of Lucas Digne, whose loan period from Paris Saint-German comes to a conclusion at the end of this month.
