Les Canaris swoop for Kacaniklic

Alexander Kacaniklic has ended a nine-year stay in England after moving to France, having signed for Nantes on a free transfer.

The Sweden international was brought to Liverpool from his homeland in 2007 and spent three years in their academy before joining Fulham in 2010.

Kacaniklic made his first-team debut in 2012 and played in the Premier League for three seasons before the Cottagers suffered relegation to the Championship in 2014.

The 24-year-old winger served loan spells at Watford, Burnley and Copenhagen during his time at Craven Cottage, where his contract runs out in a fortnight.

Les Canaris have secured his services on a four-year contract until 2020, and Kacaniklic is looking forward to starting a new chapter in his career.

"I am very happy to be here. And it's even better after visiting the training centre. I'm eager to start," he told the Ligue 1 club's official website.

"It is a great club with a great history and a lot of titles. I hope the future will be greater. I also heard about the fans who are very passionate, especially at home. I wait to play in front of them impatiently.

"I talked a lot with the coach [Rene Girard]. We both have a lot of ambitions for the coming season. That's why I'm here."
