VfL Wolfsburg have confirmed that defender Ricardo Rodriguez has signaled his intention to leave the Bundesliga club after Euro 2016.
The Switzerland international is widely considered as one of the most complete attacking full-backs in Europe and has attracted the interest of Arsenal, Roma and Real Madrid since the Wolves failed to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
VFL sporting director Klaus Allofs admitted that the 23-year-old left-back wants to leave but reassured fans that his decision won’t affect the club’s ambitions going forward.
“Rici has stated that his future is not with us. But we can live with this decision,” Allofs told Blick.
Since joining the club in 2012, Rodriguez has scored 20 goals and provided 25 assists in 157 appearances.
