Speaking ahead of this weekend’s UEFA Champions League final, Gareth Bale has revealed he is enjoying life at Real Madrid and hopes to stay at the club for “many years”.
The Wales international joined Los Blancos from Tottenham in 2013 and endured a difficult first season in Spain, despite helping the team win Copa del Rey and their long-awaited 10th Champions League title.
“I feel much more comfortable this year, it’s true,” Bale told Marca. “You can notice that on the pitch.
“I feel more integrated, I have more personal relationships with my team-mates and that always gives you more happiness and that reflects on my game.
“I’m enjoying myself a lot in Madrid and I hope this continues for many years.”
The 26-year-old has netted 19 times in 29 appearances for Real this season. He will be hoping to add to that tally on Saturday against La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid, in a repeat of the 2014 Champions League final.
“It’s true that I went through a difficult spell here but everything has changed,” Bale added. “Now I feel that the fans are with me and that they know that I’m giving my all.
“I think I’ve proved this season what I’m capable of and the fans are happy with me.”
