Twitter pokes fun at Van Gaal

In the wake of Louis Van Gaal getting the boot at Old Trafford, Twitter has exploded with personalities of all kinds weighing in on the news.

Van Gaal and his backroom staff were sacked by the club’s executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, on Monday morning.

Having represented Leicester City, Everton and Tottenham during his playing career, Gary Lineker was quick to criticise the insensitive manner in which his former rival club chose to go about the breaking news.

It is not known what Van Gaal will do next, one parody account speculated that he could feature in Ice Age Six, likening him to the mammoth who goes by the name of’Manny’.

Despite appearing slightly frustrated at Van Gaal’s inability to deliver success at the club, one fan was grateful for everything else Van Gaal brought to the table.

Similarly, Jamie Carragher also expressed his disappointment at the reality of a Premier League without Van Gaal’s sexually-themed press-conferences.

Many fans used words to express their approval of the decision to get rid of Van Gaal but some used images to similar effect.

Despite having managed Barcelona twice and FC Bayern München once, Van Gaal was not well received in Manchester. The general sentiment was that it took far too long to cut him loose. One account explained why there might have been a delay.

While there was the odd tweet that could be found that contained genuine gratitude for Van Gaal…

For the most part, it seems the Dutchman overstayed his welcome.
