Gotze hints at Bayern stay

Bayern playmaker Mario Götze looks set to remain at the Allianz Arena for Carlo Ancelotti's first season in charge, ending speculation of a transfer away from Bavaria.

The 23-year-old Germany international has just finished his third campaign with Die Roten, but featured just 14 times in the Bundesliga this last season, scoring a meagre three goals as injuries restricted his involvement, but looks set for another season in Munich.

"I look forward to the new season in Munich and will do everything possible to be in top shape for my first training session under Carlo Ancelotti," Götze is quoted as saying in German newspaper Bild.

That will come as bad news to Liverpool and former club Dortmund, both of whom were hoping to sign him in for the 2016/17 campaign, with the Reds in particular hoping that the presence of his former BVB mentor Jürgen Klopp as manager would help persuade the attacking midfielder to move to England.
