Match Summary

The Three Lions got off to the best possible start when Harry Kane opened the scoring after just three minutes in Manchester, but they were pegged back 10 minutes later through Hakan Calhanoglu's equaliser.

Vardy gave Kane a chance to restore the hosts' lead in the second half when the Leicester Striker was brought down for a penalty, but his Tottenham counterpart failed to convert from the spot.

However, the Premier League Golden Boot winner's blushes were spared by his strike partner as Vardy pounced seven minutes from time to hand Roy Hodgson's side victory.

Full Report

The friendly was barely three minutes old when the home team went in front. It was a fortuitous goal as Kane appeared to have strayed offside when he received the ball from Spurs team-mate Dele Alli before firing into the bottom corner of the net.

But the Crescent-Stars hit back soon afterwards as Volkan Sen's run down the right flank caused England problems and he slipped the ball past an on-rushing Joe Hart to pick out Calhanoglu, who slotted home from close range.

Hodgson's men looked to respond, with Jack Wilshere and Eric Dier going close with a shot and header respectively, while Kane failed to work visiting goalkeeper Volkan Babacan from two direct free-kicks.

Mehmet Topal squandered a glorious chance to give the visitors the lead just before the break as he got on the end of Calhanoglu's cross, but his header flew inches over the crossbar.

More wastefulness from both teams in the second half left the two keepers with little to do, but Babacan was thrust into the spotlight on 71 minutes when Vardy was brought down inside the area by Topal.

However, Babacan was relieved to see Kane fire his post-kick against the frame of the goal, although a mix-up between the keeper and Ismail Koybasi from a corner resulted in Vardy blasting home on the rebound following Gary Cahill's header.

Hart preserved his side's lead at the death with a fine save to deny Olcay Sahan from inside the area in stoppage time.
