Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel admitted he got the order of penalty-takers wrong, following his side’s loss to FC Bayern München at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.
Bayern added DFB-Pokal trophy to their Bundesliga title as they recorded a 4-3 win on penalties, with Douglas Costa netting the decisive spot-kick on the day.
Having seen his side miss two of their penalties in the shootout, Tuchel was quick to acknowledge he had made an error in judgment.
He also highlighted what he felt were several areas his side could improve on.
“I got the order of penalties wrong, it’s all my fault,” he told ARD television. “I’m so annoyed with myself for this.
“We’ve got to look at it all again. I think we’ve got room for improvement.
“We fell so far short of what we had intended to do tonight.
“I’m not so happy with the first half, and that set the tone for the second half and it continued into extra-time.
“We can do better. It’s an art, of course, to get yourself in the zone, and we didn’t do that.”
