FC Bayern München forward Mario Gotze has been ruled out of the DFB-Pokal final against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday due to a broken rib.
According to Bayern, Gotze sustained the injury during the team’s Bundesliga finale against Hannover 96, in which he scored two goals, last Saturday.
Gotze had travelled with Bayern to Berlin on Friday, but was only deemed unfit for the match after the team’s final practice session.

The 23-year-old’s absence is a big blow for the reigning Bundesliga champions as he has scored six goals and notched up four assists in 21 matches in all competitions this season.
Gotze will now be rested for the next two weeks in order to ensure he will be fully fit to represent Germany in Euro 2016, which starts next month.
