Pogba backing Martial to shine

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba believes Manchester United's deadline day signing, Anthony Martial, will make a mark at the club, saying he has 'great qualities'.

The 19-year-old Martial, who became the most expensive teenager when the English giants bought him for an initial £36 million from Monaco, made his debut alongside Pogba for the French national team when they played Portugal last Friday.

Pogba, who himself is only 22 years of age, has observed Martial from close quarters as they have trained together with the national side.

A former United player himself, Pogba said: "First of all, I call him 'old chap'. He's only 19 but is really mature for his age.

"I knew him already. He has great qualities and very big potential.

"He'll offer a lot to the France team and I'm very happy for him. He's now changed club and will get to know the Premier League. He'll play with big players and he'll progress a lot."

Martial is expected to make his debut for the Manchester club when they take on Liverpool at Old Trafford on Saturday.
