PSV manager Phillip Cocu has lavished praise on Ajax counterpart Frank De Boer after their dramatic final-day Eredivisie title battle.
The Eindhoven outfit pipped the Amsterdam giants to retain their title after Ajax failed to overcome 17th-placed De Graafschap in a 1-1 draw while Cocu's side comfortably beat European hopefuls PEC Zwolle 3-1.
Cocu revealed his admiration for his friend and praised De Boer's remarkable achievements of four titles in six seasons with the club – which he claims is overlooked on a global stage because it is Dutch football.
"We have not spoken, but he has congratulated me. That would have happened the other way around too," the Dutchman said.
"Frank is an absolute top coach. It's extraordinary what he has achieved with Ajax, it is sometimes easily ignored in the Netherlands.
"But obviously you try as a top athlete and coach yourself to catch the prize, but when Frank and I somehow meet next summer we can safely celebrate holidays together."
