AC Milan are reportedly preparing to offer France international Jeremy Menez in exchange for Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva in the January transfer window.
According to reports in Spain, Milan head coach Sinisa Mihajlovic is keen to add Leiva to his squad in order to provide competition for the holding midfield role, which is currently contested by Nigel de Jong and Riccardo Montolivo, amongst others.
Leiva was on the verge of departing Liverpool in the transfer window, with a move to Turkish outfit Besiktas said to be on the cards.
The Brazilian's move was blocked by the Reds, though, after an injury to skipper Jordan Henderson, and he has since featured in two fixtures.
However, he is unlikely to remain in the reckoning for a starting place once Henderson returns from injury, and Milan are exploring the possibility of striking a deal with the English outfit ahead of the January window.
Menez, who has not featured for Milan this term, will be included in a deal for Lucas, according to Fichajes.
The France international made 33 appearances in Serie A last term, scoring 16 times and bagging four assists.
