Sevilla right-back Mariano has spoken of his involvement in their 3-1 win over Shakhtar Donetsk and called fellow Europa League finalists Liverpool a "great" club.
The Brazilian, who contributed to the scoresheet in Los Rojiblancos' comfortable semi-final, second-leg victory on Thursday night, spoke with reporters after the match about his goal and the upcoming final against the Reds.
"It was a golazo," Mariano said about his spectacular effort, having curled the ball around the goalkeeper with the outside of his boot from a full 30 yards out.
"A while ago my team-mates told me I had to score and today was a good day, in a semi-final. I'm very happy and now I'll enjoy it with my peers," he was quoated as saying by AS.
"I think we're playing well and now we play to enjoy the final. This was a bit different, as a semi-final, our third in a row and now we want to go to Basel and win.
"Liverpool, a great team, come now but so are Sevilla and I think they have respect for us and we need to have respect for them too."
