Youth player pays tribute to Higuita

Gremio’s U-14 player Thomas Luciano scored a spectacular ‘Scorpion kick’ goal during a match against Novo Hamburgo earlier this week.

The Scorpion kick was made famous by Colombia’s enigmatic goalkeeper Rene Higuita during a friendly with England at Wembley in 1995.

In this one, Luciano was the first to respond after the ball ricocheted back into the field of play after hitting the crossbar, and produced this little piece of magic.

Contender for the FIFA Puskás Award perhaps?
