Lille midfielder Rio Mavuba has warned team-mate Sofiane Boufal not to force a move away from the Ligue 1 club amid reported interest from Tottenham.
Boufal has been a revelation for Les Dogues since his arrival from Angers and with 11 goals and four assists in 29 league outings this season, Footmercato reported that Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino could be weighing up a move for the 22-year-old playmaker.
However, LOSC stalwart Mavuba feels the Morocco international should only leave the club if he is given assurances of first-team football as he'd be better off developing further with his current employers.
"Sofiane, he must be starting, the advice I give him is that he plays," the France international told MaxiFoot,
"Being the fourth choice at a big club, it serves no purpose.
"Initially it was complicated with him but after the first three or four months he has exemplary behaviour, he has great stats, saw the talent he has, he can go very far."
