Excelsior Rotterdam head coach Alfons Groenendijk admits his side are desperate to avoid relegation after being dubbed the Dutch 'relegation ghosts'.
The term stems from the fact that they've been relegated four times in the past 14 seasons and constantly find themselves languish within the relegation zone.
However, Groenendijk is confident they'll fight till the end as they have two games remaining to keep themselves in the Eredivisie.
"I have always remained confident that we will stay up and we have a kind of relegation ghost following us," he told NOS.
"We are fighting with Willem II to avoid the relegation play-offs and Willem II have a better goal difference than what we do and in terms of fixtures they play Feyenoord and we play PEC Zwolle and then in the last game we are away to Cambuur and Willem II play at Roda JC so who knows what will happen.
"We hope that in 10 days time we have ensured our top flight status if that is not the case we will carry on for another two weeks.
"You cannot avoid being aware of potential relegation play-off opponents but we have full confidence that we will stay up directly without the need of relegation play-offs."
