Tuesday’s AFC Cup action saw big wins for Al Ahed and Al-Hadd, while Al Faisaly Amman and Al Wasat also advanced to the knockout stage.
Al Faisaly Amman 4-2 Istiqlol Dushanbe
A brace from Khalil Baniateyah would see hosts Al Faisaly earn a comfortable win over Istiqlol in Amman.
Al Faisaly went into the break 2-0 after Baniateyah and Wael Al Riffaee scored. Istiqlol’s Mehdi Chahjouyi and Parvizchone Umarbaev would score in the second half, but a goal from Yasen Al Bakhet and a second from Baniateyah put the result beyond doubt.
The victory sees the Jordan outfit book their place in the knockout stage, while Istiqlol remain at the bottom of Group B and are still searching for their first win.
Al Ahed 3-0 Altyn Asyr
Al Ahed continued their undefeated run in the AFC Cup with a 3-0 routing at home in Saida over Altyn Asyr.
Three first half strikes from Abbas Ali Atwi, Hassan Chaito and Nour Mansour were enough for a dominating win.
The result sees the Lebanon club advance to the round of 16, while Altyn Asyr stay in second place in Group A with one match to play.
Tripoli 1-3 Al Wasat
Mustafa Kareem put the icing on the cake for Al Wasat as they earned a win over Tripoli in more Group B action in Lebanon.
Salih Sadir opened the account in the eighth minute for the visitors and Amjed Waleed Hussein added another before the break. Abdul Aziz gave Tripoli some hope with his goal in the 78th minute, but Kareem scored in extra time.
As a result, Tripoli are eliminated from the group stage, while the Iraqi club advance.
Al-Hadd 6-2 Al Wehdat
Sayed Adnan scored a hat-trick in 15 minutes as Al-Hadd put six goals past Al Wehdat in Bahrain.
Nigeria’s Uche Agba opened the scoring in the fifth minute and Al Wehdat pulled one back via Francisco Torres Wagsley 13 minutes later. While teams went into the change room with the scores locked, it was a second half blitz that blew the visitors off the park.
Al-Hadd book their place in the knockout stage, while the Jordan side still have a chance of qualifying in Group A on Match Day Six.
