There were plenty of goals on offer in Thursday’s two La Liga fixtures, with relegation-threatened duo Granada and Getafe picking up crucial victories.
Getafe kicked off proceedings on Thursday night with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad at Anoeta Stadium.
Sociedad appeared to be on their way to victory after breaking the deadlock in the 19th minute, Carlos Vela finding the bottom-left corner with a shot from the centre of the box.
However, Getafe rallied magnificently, drawing level through Pablo Sarabia on the stroke of half-time, following some good work in the build up by Alvaro Vazquez.
And the comeback was completed in the 56th minute when Vazquez added his own name to the scoresheet, converting from the penalty spot after being brought down in the danger area by Oier.
At Los Carmenes, meanwhile, Granada gave their survival prospects a massive boost after recording a convincing 5-1 victory over Levante in an entertaining relegation scrap.
Granada’s Isaac Success kicked off proceedings with the game’s opening goal in the 25th minute, before Youssef El-Arabi doubled their advantage from the penalty spot 10 minutes later.
Ruben Rochina made it 3-0 to the hosts on the stroke of half-time, before Ruben Garcia pulled one back for Levante in the 82nd minute.
However, any hopes Levante may have harboured of mounting a late comeback were quickly quashed as El-Arabi scored twice in quick succession, his brace sandwiching Simao Mate’s late sending off for a second bookable offence.
Thursday’s La Liga results:
Real Sociedad 1-2 Getafe
