Thursday’s Eredivisie round-up

Cambuur Leeuwarden and Willem II had to settle for a share of the spoils in the Eredivisie on Thursday night, while AZ saw off the challenge of ADO Den Haag at Kyocera Stadion.

AZ Alkmaar strengthened their grip on fourth place in the Eredivisie after recording a 2-1 victory over ADO Den Haag.

Dabney dos Santos fired the visitors in front after 21 minutes, finding the bottom-left corner from the right-hand side of the box after latching onto a pass from Joris van Overeem.

Their lead didn’t last long, though, with Tom Beugelsdijk levelling matters on the half-hour mark with a well-placed header from the centre of the box, Edouard Duplan providing the assist.

However, it was Markus Henriksen who had the last say, latching onto a through pass from Ben Rienstra before slotting home from inside the penalty area.

At Cambuur Stadion, meanwhile, Willem II rallied from behind to claim a 1-1 draw, boosting their survival prospects at the expense of bottom-of-the-table Cambuur, who were desperate to claim all three points on the night.

Jamiro Monteiro’s close-range header gave the home side the lead on 24 minutes, only for Jordens Peters to pop up three minutes later with the equaliser.
